Hello,
I have my first Babys from my T.jacksonii xantolophus female and have Problmes and questions :)

The 23 Babys were born on 16th Decembre. They were very agile. After 3 days they become flabby. They lie on the ground, habe their eyes closed nad sit in the branches like a towel.
On the day we have 22-25°C. On the surface ist fly screen (Exo Terra Terrarium). Because they need much fresh air I now opend the doors and added fly screen.
We got the mother pregnat, so wie don't know how it was raised.

We raise them in an 30cm 30 cm 40 cm (7 babys)
30 30 30 (6 babys) and
45 cm 45 cm 60 cm (10 babys)
Over the 30 30 40 we have a 30 Watt UV lamp (HQI)
On the others wie have 26 Watt energy-saving lamp and 25 Watt normal lamp.

I attach some photos. They babys are still all alive and are around 3,5 centimeters.

Can anyone help, waht wie do wrong, or how we can save the babys?
It' difficult to get much information on this species.
I apologize for my english, and wish you happy rest holidays :)

During the day, you may want to increase their warm spot a little bit, to the low to mid 80s. What have you been feeding them and how did you supplement them?

Hi, I have raised one clutch of xanths and a few other babies at different times. So my experiences are somewhat limited with xanths.

What seems to work with most montane species that i have raised to this point. Live plants like a pathos are really beneficial for babies. The water drop stay on the leaves longer, allowing longer spikes of higher humidity and giving them more time to drink. It also gives them more room to run around. I mist the plant thoroughly and try to do this 3-4 times a day.

With montanes, For the first month or so i dont put any heat on the babies, even though it would be just fine (i just choose not to). Instead i try to keep ambients in the mid 70's. Small prey items like fruit flies, nymphs, pinheads are your friend. I personally use new uvb bulbs over my kids and dust lightly with plain calcium. On young i dust a couple times a month with reptivite.

I personally use sterilite totes with open tops, paper towel on the bottom.

Good luck

I also got female Jacksons that were already pregnant when I got them. The babies need ALOT of fruit flies!! I made sure to tap some in a couple times a day!! As far as water. i sprayed the sides of the glass. I keep the babies in a terrarium with the screen top until they are big enough to eat crickets because the fruit flies get thru the screen on the reptariums. With the glass sides you can monitor their eating and drinking. I have not had good luck with them but have learned alot. They started eating small crickets at 3 months. I dust them with calcium . Good Luck.
