This does not surprise me at all. Life finds a way. I believe chameleons do this more than most thought possible. When I became fascinated with chams there were 174 known breeds. Now there are over 200. Not all of these were new finds, but finds of crossbreeding. I believe this can happen in all species. Nice find. Thanks for sharing!

I don’t know much about genetics, etc but I’ve read that errors during meiosis can lead to gametes with extra chromosomes,
