Well I found a dragonfly in my room that i seen get into my house like a month ago D: I finally found it today in my room D: so i caught it with a fish net from my turtle tank. (never used) and then finally caught it after about 10 minutes:) and put it in her cage. she ate it (x and then went after a house fly. and of course she ate it(x
just thought i should share. anyone every feed their cham dragonflies? or should i never do that again? D:
thanks Zac

I fed my baby veiled a small blue dragonfly when he was 2 months old and he ate it no problem. I don't see a problem with it at all. It's great to feed chams a varied diet. Could you imagine eating the same thing every day? I'm sure it gets tiring for them.

haha true:) lol only if i had a better net to catch more dragon flies:) sadly its hard to get variety around where i live:) but when i move more variety thanks to reptile stores(;

Cool! I was wondering the same thing... Everyday when I come home it seems theres a dragonfly stuck in my lil screen'd in porch area.
Next time he's lunch!!!! muhahahaahha :D

my veiled loves dragonflies/butterflies/moths but I find the dragonflies are pretty hard to catch in the wild and Im sure if anybody that has seen me chasing one with my net thought I was nuts lol. Lately I have been catching alot of grasshoppers and they seem to be an awesome feeder that my cham loves and enjoys the hunt of. I would really like to hunt down some mantises but they are hard to find around here.

I would love to feed my chams insects from around here. We have such a dense amount of dragonflies butterflies grasshoppers and mantis. But I've hear nothing but horror stories about it :( which really turns me off from the idea. I've heard of chams getting parasites from the w/c insects and even worse, dying because the bugs had different insecticides and pesticides on them which are all over outside.
It sucks because i do feel bad for my chams and i try to give them the widest variety i can offer which obviously is the limited feeders i can get my hands on from the stores. Basically supers, meals, wax worms, horn worms and silk worms. Id love to be able to feed them something other than worms once in a while.
Oh sometimes i'll let my wax worms pupate and hatch into moths and let them chase them :)

thats why I never give my chams anything wild. they spray pesticides every few nights where i live. so its hard to get wild insects D: that was my females probably first but im not sure since im her second owner. :) but the dragonfly was in a way quarentined since it moved in a month ago :) lol

I've been doing the same. There's so many little green grasshopers jumping around my front and back lawn. I haven't had to feed my little veiled any crickets for the past week. Saves a little money, haha.

Does anyone know the nutritional value of feeding little grasshopers vs crickets? They're the same size as about one inch crickets.

I wouldnt feed insects from a residential neighborhood. Go out and find a field somewhere far away from homes and industrial areas. Too big of a risk of insecticides or fertilizers being injested by the feeder. Impo. And I do feed wc bugs myself. But I go to a field near a river a few miles from my home.
