first chameleon. i dont know much

first of all how does he look? he hasn't eaten much and seems to have no interest in his food. he doesn't like me. i bought him from a pet store about two weeks ago so i don"t know his actual age. he is always this dark color other than when he is sleeping and he rarely does anything but sit up top.

You know, it may be the Panther keeper in me, but the color is screaming SHE.

Shoot us some close up pictures of its eyes, the back of its back legs, and the base of its tail. Also, it really helps to fill out the form that I will link to in the next comment. It gives everyone a standard format to troubleshoot and discuss.

Hi there and welcome Congratulations on your new baby . Have you look at the care sheet ? You have a few changes to make on your set up
1. You need way more foliage real plants are the best for humidity . You want it to be thick so you have a hart time finding your girl/boy .
2. You need lots of cruising space vertical and horizontal (branches) .
3. Substrate needs to go your bottom should be fairly clear of anything .

He won't be on the bottom of his enclosure . Where is your uvb ? Is that a 2 in one uvb/uva ?
What is your current supplement schedule ?
See if @Nursemaia , @Andee , @Matt Vanilla Gorilla @Remkon or @alphakenc can chim in there all very experience my go to's . Best of luck .

First things first...read through this care sheet and do everything you can to follow it to the letter. These are not a suggestion, the care sheet here is tested and proven. Getting things set up like the care sheet lays out should be your #1 priority.

Lighting, supplements, feeders, temps, water...all these things need to be right for a happy healthy cham. I have no doubt that you can do it!

If you have a female. You will need to learn about how to set up a laying bin and what the process is for her laying eggs. That can happen as soon as 4 months old. I want to say yours looks to be about 3 months.

Please post pictures of the back of your chams back feet. This will help us to tell male or female. We are looking for a spur. A little bump right at the point where the feet split on the back side of the back feet. No bump=female. Bump=male.

What, may I ask, is that tube in the center of your enclosure?

Yes both of the lights are up top right next to each other. I just lightly dust all my crickets that I feed him with repticalcium d3

Too much D3 is toxic. D3 should only be given twice a month.

Follow the schedule in the care sheet.
Plain Calcium with no D3 daily
Calcium with D3 twice a month
Multivitamin twice a month.

Calcium with D3 is what helps their bodies use the plain Calcium.

You need to get some more plants up higher. Make sure you have a nice big leaf positioned for the dripper to drop on so he can drink.
When you have time copy and paste the How to Ask for Help questions that are sticky'd in the Health Clinic. Be as thurough as you can do we can help you get everything set up for success.

Okay I did use the plain one for the first week until I got this kind but I will go back to it. But honestly he hasn't eaten much at all

• Your Chameleon - sex-unknown veiled. I have had it in my care for about 2 weeks
• Handling - it doesn't like me so maybe 2 times a week or less
• Feeding - small crickets and meal worms, I feed them carrots and potatoes , he/she hardly eats anything
• Supplements - repticalcium and reptivite
• Watering - I have a dripper in the top of the cage. I mist like 3 times a day. I don't see him drink that often
• Fecal Description - mostly looks like bird poop white and brown but a few other times it was a cloudy white log. I bought him from the pet store so he probably has been tested for parasites
• History - none

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - basking area is 80 bottom is 73 at night 66
• Humidity - I have a dripper and I mist. I don't measure the humidity
• Plants - no live plants
• Placement - on my desk in my room. Top is about 5 feet tall semi close to a window
• Location - syracuse utah

Current Problem - he isn't eating and is always dark and he doesn't like me

I don't honestly know what I can add since you already have knowledgeable people on this thread. I wouldn't say s/he doesn't like you, you just have no reason to be trusted now. You have to earn the trust. You need to get a wider variety of feeders for sure. How often and how much are you feeding her? The basking temp should be closer to 84 s/he may be cold. I also recommend getting tons more plants too. Not enough equals feeling exposed which leads to unhappy chameleon.

I have worms offered to her/him 24/7 because s/he doesn't eat them at all and doesn't eat the crickets either is seems like but I give it like 3-4 a
day

What type of basking light do you have? I use a plain house bulb. Try a 75 watt. You can go up or down in wattage from there. Way cheaper than using a "basking" bulb. You may even have some around the house already.

You have to build trust and you have not done that yet . Your baby's Instinct says you would like to have him for dinner . Once you get your enclosure set up correctly and the correct supplements . Then you can work on trust . Every feeding should be with out D3 twice a month with D3 alt with Multi vitamin . You also need a good gut load for your feeders . Hornworms, silkworms , suporworms , Dubia roaches are all good choices .
