Master of Disguise they be. This guy gives me fits trying to find him each day. So I will let you join me in enjoying the chase! This morning was especially challenging so I had to take a picture. Can you spot and identify him?

Yep, once again, in plain sight...Amazing

I love these guys!

Anyone remember wheres Wally? lol

I cant find a Chameleon anywhere, unless its the brownish shape at the bottome left of the pic?

Guessing trioceros species? They are definitely ninja..I have spent many minutes looking around cages, even opening doors and moving foliage around. The darn things will be right under the basking light LOL.

O'wait i see two!!

That is him up top! Although I had to do a double take on the one you pointed out in the lower right to check to make sure no one dug under the wall and joined him!

He is a Trioceros deremensis and their very effective way of hiding is to show their backside to you. They are shaped so much like a leaf that it is unnerving! Of course, I am also to blame for my situation. They look very much like Schefflera leaves so planting his cage with Schefflera is just giving myself misery! :)

Here's a picture of him doing his back turning in a easier to see picture! And then a profile shot. He is almost a year and a half old.

Wow, that was impossible. I would never have spotted him if he hadnt been pointed out!

I spotted him only because I finally noticed legs coming out of one particular leaf. And then it took some readjusting to be able to ID his position and where his head was. It didn't help that he had his tail up around where I would have expected his head. Today the chameleon check took a awhile!

T.deremensis are one of the best at hiding. It took me your arrows before I spotted the one in your picture.

Last weekend in a 2x2x4 cage with only one ficus to me a half hour to find my female T. deremensis. I started to check places were she could be in the greenhouse and with one last look spotted her right in front of me in her cage.

I did not know it was a T. deremensis from the start. That probably would have made looking easier as when they hide they turn sideways and is easier to find if your looking for them.

My fail safe way of finding chameleons is this: If you are looking for your chameleon for over 10 minutes then go in the house, get a ruler, go back to the cage and put the ruler to your nose. Right about the six inch mark is where the chameleon has been all along.

I have never heard that before:D. If you have got confidence in that method go for it!

hahaha, I have actually done something similar when I raised Jackson's. We would freak out, grab a cricket and hold it out and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW they were right next to our hand. Scared me every time, but it was hilarious every time as well.
