Finally on my way to more insects!!

Our garage is on its way to being far more organized today. In a few hours I likely will have all the space I need to have as many feeders etc. That I could possibly want. And I also will have my chest freezer soon! So excited ^^

Lol my colonies won't be up for selling for at least another month+ everyone before you who was ordering made my colonies a little wobbly, even my 1000+ dubia colony. The ratio is weirdly off for the breeders. But I will have lots of different species to offer even than the 5 I have now. I have huge plans.

Andee, can bsfl reproduce in a large fully planted viv?

- I know random, but while were on the topic of more bugs

Ummm possibly? It would probably be the most ideal place indoors if you aren't making a specific enclosure for them.... their laying enclosure is very specific and they can be messy if not cleaned pretty regularly.

So you would have to make something specific for them inside the enclosure of the chameleon. They don't need anything huge but the larvae need a couple things and they prefer laying eggs on things like corrugated cardboard.

Ook I see. I just wasn't sure if you dumped a bunch of larvae in a fully planted viv if they would just start reproducing. Would be so nice to have a replenishing colony of soldier flies

Naw sadly they don't. They need several things to keep them reproducing inside. Including temps, a photo period, uvb, food sources for the larvae, a bin where the larvae can survive and pupate etc, and corrugated carboard for egg laying, plus regular cleaning.

Couldn't that all be available for them in a Bioactive? Even if you put some sort of box for them to stay in away from the cham?

No, likely not, they don't eat bioactive stuff.. They are literally composers so they eating fruit veggies etc. So you'd have to feed them etc that way

Technically that could work I think? Idk lemme check it out. For what is needed for them to grow and procreate etc.

No it won't, the temps for them to successfully procreate at are too high as an ambient to have 24/7 for a chameleon. They also need 70%+ humidity for larvae as an air humidity consistently.
