Filtering Fogger/Mister??

Hey guys. Just some Q's about filtering...

I filter every drop of water that goes in his cage... fog or water.

His auto-mister (Exo Terra Monsoon Rainfall System) has a filter in the tube but I don't know how reliable it is... should I still filter?

Also should I filter the water that goes in his fogger? Like I said I filter everything right now just wondering if it's completely necessary for those two things.

A couple of questions about your house water. Are you on a municipal water source or a well? A municipal (city) water source would technically safe to drink, but might have chlorines or chloramines or fluoride added to it. You would want to remove those with an aquarium treatment chemical. What type of filter do you use now?

If you are on your own well, the water will probably be very hard and will eventually clog your mister nozzles and valves with calcium deposits. A reverse osmosis filter will remove most of the minerals or you could use demineralized or distilled water to keep the system cleaner. I'm sure the filter in the tube won't do anything to remove minerals or treatment chemicals, but is expected to work like a simple sponge biological filter.

I'm on a city water source. I just use a $20 water filter that you can get at Vitamin Cottage. It's like a pitcher that you put water in the top and it filters it into the bottom.

The filter on the Monsoon im pretty sure is not meant to filter anything but large particles from going through the system. Also i have read not to use distilled water because it contains something that is bad for your chameleons liver. I just use filtered spring water or drinking water that u can get at any store by the gallon.
