is ficus lyrata a bad plant? I just bought one cause one of my Chams plants died and heard they have sap that can be harmful but haven't seen anything like that come from it

i have a few of those plants in my house and if a cham were to grab one of the leaves it could possibly fall off exposing sap

Doubtful that it is harmful (at least to the extent that it shouldn't cause death within a matter of days, weeks, or months).

According to chameleon academy and other websites, Ficus benjamina (a staple in many enclosures) is considered veiled chameleon safe. With that said, "The sap that is emitted from all parts of the Ficus benjamina is highly toxic." (https://www.gardenguides.com/120569-toxicity-ficus-benjamina.html).

We really don't know how these toxins work. Many of these toxins seem to have significant effects on mammals yet cause no harm to our reptiles. Same thing with pothos and oxalates.
