Hi

We bred our panther Chameleons for the first time and she had laid eggs on August 1st.

This is what they look like today



Is it to early to tell if they are fertile

If any of the eggs are infertile, they will start molding pretty quickly. Seeing that it has been 2 weeks since she laid them, I would say that they are fertile. Also, they all look nice and white in that picture, this is a good sign that they are fertile. Infertile eggs will have a yellow color to them.

As Lyle said, most will start to mold early on if they are infertile but I would still give them 4-6 to do so. However, some eggs will still continue look good all the way up till when it is time to hatch just to have them go bad and mold over. So you never really know what will happen but after 4-6 weeks you can be fairly certain if the eggs are good or not.

They do look nice and white which is a good sign!

Update on Eggs

Here is an update on the Eggs:

Camilla has 46 eggs that were laid on August 1 2014 - all are good.

Bonnie has 52 eggs that were laid on Sept. 2014 - two were molded the rest are good.

I have posted some pictures.

Questions:
From reading different messages, my girls seemed to have a high number of eggs.
1. Is this unusually high or normal?
2. Besides the heat light should babies have a T5 or T10 UV light?
3. What size of housing should babies be places in?
4. How many chameleons can go in an enclosure?
5. What foods can the babies eat?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.
