Females Housed Together

Right now I have all my females separated but I have heard some have had luck keeping 2 together. Anyone have any thoughts? Any changes in eating or receptiveness?

yes i have had ambilobe sisters together in large outdoor inclosures. and noticed if you have multiple feeding dishes extra branches and basking spots they got along just fine. then i introduced a female ambanja and she was cranky and tried to bully the ambilobe so i took her out and back in her own cage. i have had groups of jacksons all stay together in a large out door cage with no problems the females even dropped babys for me:D

i have also seen bad cage mates in large cages still chase all the other females to corners and keep attacking them. so you just need to keep an eye on them and see how they react with each other and pair them up by how they act if they eat drink and show good colors then they should be fine but if they seem stressed for more then a few days put them back in solitary cages and try a different paring. but make sure they have plenty of places to hide eat drink and bask and lots of chameleon highways.

i hope this helps

good tips, i have good luck with keeping a pair of male quadricornis brother together untill about the age of 8 months when i decided to separate them just to keep them safer from crawling on each other and what not.
as said you just need to keep an extra keen eye on thins and make changes accordingly

Make sure you understand their subtler signs of stress before you do this. You certainly don't want to miss something until one of them ends up sick! It might work to put their cages close together so they can watch each other. If you don't see reactions or changes in activity, try shared housing. Just be ready to switch them back.

not recommended generally
depends also on type of chameleon

If you have a good deal of experience, which allows you to be sensitive to the most subtle signs, and if you have a very large enclosure (preferably with more than one basking area), and if the temperment of both females is docile, it can be done.

Space and personality are the key words here. Obvioously, we're not talking a 2x2x4' cage but something quite a bit bigger, especially sideways, so that each cham can bask separately and such.

yes a very large cage the cage i have houseing more then one female is 4 feet deep by 12 feet long and 6 feet tall and i have two 5 foot tall ficus trees in there with over 50 feet of fake vines as high ways for them and a few feeding dishes and two misting spots. so lots of room and lots of high ways so they dont have to cross each other and lots of hiding places and a few feeding dishes. you dont want to make them compete over any thing.

I agree. Even though I commented earlier to "watch for trouble" doesn't mean I would put females together myself. Just not worth the worry. Everyone does so much better with their own personal space. Now, in a free range or a greenhouse sized cage I'd try it.

yes large large cages are what i would recomend i have had little trouble id say none but i have a mean ambanja who thinks the world is her's lol:D

yes you can imo as long as you start them out as babies so they are use to it. and get a big enough cage so when they want they can get their space when needed. right now I got 2 female nosey be's together that are doing great together and two female veileds which are sisters housed together. the veiled girls are funny the sleep together everynight next to each other. I wouldn't suggest doing to to males though. but there is a video of a guy on youtube that has like 8 panthers all in the same cage together and they seem to be doing good that could be a possability but i wouldn't want to try it.
