Female Veiled laying eggs

I have a female veiled chameleon, today I saw that she was digging a hole in her cage next to the plant, to no avail, so I removed her put her in an egg laying bin and she started to dig in it almost instantly... I was wondering how long should I keep her in the bin for her to finish laying the eggs... I do not want to check on her as I know this can cause her to abandon her hole and possibly become egg bound...

One thing for sure is that its not good to move her back and forth when she is digging to lay her eggs. I usually have a peek hole so I can see her without her seeing me while she's digging the hole. If she sees you while digging the hole though, she will likely abandon it and if it happens too often she could become eggbound.

They can dig several test holes before chosing one to lay the eggs in. Once they have decided on a hole they will dig it until they are satisfied with the hole. This can be a few hours or a few days.

Once the hole is dug to her satisfaction she will turn around, butt down and lay the eggs....usually in the evening. The egglaying can take several hours. Its okay for her to stay in the hole over night.

When she is done laying the eggs she will fill the hole in and tamp the substrate down around the area and return to the branches hungry and thirsty.

If you have a branch in the bin, its safe to look in when she is up in the branch. You can water her and feed her then too but don't leave loose insects in the bin.
