we bought a chameleon about 9 months ago. she must be...10-11 months old.
i have noticed she has been digging at the bottom of her cage and not eating her crickets. this only happens when my boyfriend leaves for work for 2 weeks and when hes home she never digs and always eats for him. i always take her out and play with her when he is gone. im just confused why she would do this. i cant tell if she is getting close to laying eggs or not..

any one got any ideas?

mine wont eat if im not there, and will sit looking out of the front of the cage till i come home, app she dosent go to sleep according to my parents until im home, ive been on night shift and shes been at the front of the cage then went straight to sleep when i come in, i personally think they fret

i know females can lay eggs with out a male, i don't know how to tell when she will start laying eggs. everyone i asked has all said just watch her. no signs no hints..

yea he's good when my boyfriend is around but as soon as hes gone she wont eat and she digs all around her cage and makes a massive mess, she has been digging all day today to the point where she stuffs her head in the muskeg and buries herself.

i put about 5 crickets in her cage on wensday and its been almost 4 days and those 5 crickets are still wondering around. she hasn't eaten them. i also put a bowl of fruit in there she hasn't touched that either, she's to worried about digging.

If she has a proper place to dig in the cage (an opaque container 12" high x 12" x 8" filled almost full of moistened washed playsand) you shouldn't have to worry about watching for the signs...she should just start digging in the container.

The signs that a female is getting close to laying include but are not limited to...drinking more, wandering around looking for a place to lay them, possibly not eating.

I don't know why she would be acting one way when you are home alone and another way when your boyfriend is there. Sorry.

yea im not sure either, i have never seen her drink water from the water bowl or from the leaves after i spray them. and the bottom of her cages has about 3-4 inches of digging space but nothing she can actually dig a big hole in
