Female Senegal

I have been told that even though my little female Senegal is single I should still have a place for her to lay eggs. Is that true? If so how old are they when they start laying eggs?

It is true that female egg-laying chameleons will lay unfertilized eggs even if they have never mated. This does require you to provide a laying bin and other special care, but I do not know at what age this starts or how often it happens. I have no personal experience with female chameleons. Hopefully someone who does can give you more info.

Although none of the female Senegals I had ever laid eggs without mating I still always had an egglaying set up in their cages at all times. I'm sure that not all chameleons lay eggs without having mated...but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry.

You need an opaque container at least 12" wide by 8" long by 12" deep filled with washed playsand that is moist enough to hold a tunnel.
