Female not going in lay bin question

So I took tito (female veiled) to the vet to get her 2nd round of baytril (she has a respiratory infection), the vet said she looked a more bloated than when she saw her last week. The vet said she might have eggs, and that would make sense, as she’s been hanging around the bottom of her cage. So I made a lay bin for her and put it in her cage but she is still just hanging around the bottom of her cage and not even attempting to go in the lay bin. She had a fecal done and everything checked out normal. She has peeked inside the lay bin but has not went in it. I have vines going down into it and it is about 12 inches deep of substrate. I used an organic soil and playsand mix and have been keeping it moist. And thoughts on what might be going on or advice?

She looks way to young to have eggs... How old is she? I don't even see that she is showing the typical colors and she does not look hefty like she is holding eggs either.
The lay bin is too deep.

Can you post more pics of the cham so we can see her?

What size enclosure is this 16x16x30?

I thought the same thing but her vet recommended trying a lay bin since she seemed more bloated. But I’ve also been feeding her good I feed her around 12-15 feeder crickets and 1 mealworm a day as a treat because the place I got her from said she was around 3 months. But that was a pet store so I don’t know how much I trust that. I also raised her light basking light up because I’ve read that females don’t need as much light to have smaller clutch sizes. Is this ok or should I wait until she is older to raise up her light? I’ve attached a picture of her thermometer by her basking branch.

So she is not trying to lay eggs. She is young... Pull that lay bin. I am going to tag in some members that keep females to assist you with proper lay bin set up (because it should be a permanent fixture but not that deep). @MissSkittles @AmandaS could you assist this member with female Veiled info and help on reworking a lay bin for her enclosure?

If you have not filled out the help form I would do that as well.

  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?

Great thank you. I have filled out the form before. Do you know about the basking light question that I asked? Or should I wait for the others that you tagged to reply? Here’s another picture of her does she look bloated to you?

No, she does not. Not even a little bit. Not really sure what your vet was talking about. It is pretty important to have a vet that sees reptiles and has cham experience. Per the temps... Analog temp gauges are not that accurate. You want a digital one that has a wired probe. This would be placed at the basking branch below the basking fixture to get accurate temps.

Hi there. I see a puffed up cham, but not a bloated one. Neither does she look gravid. Maybe she just needed a good poo when the vet saw her.
For laying bin, it’s probably too soon for her to need one. I’ll attach pics of my ladies when gravid and/or receptive. Something like this https://www.target.com/p/16-9qt-lar...sX5U0Yn4Y3Vk8w2kXARoCtLMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds would be perfect for a lay bin. Fill to at least 6” and no more than 9” with moist play sand (you could add a small amount of organic soil if you choose to plant in a corner).
No idea why Tito would be on the enclosure floor. Is it possible it was too hot or an escaped feeder was down there?

I thought it might have been a little too hot. That’s why I raised her basking light up some. How many inches away from her basking branch would you say is good? It’s a 100 watt and I got a digital probe thermometer that says her temp on her basking branch is 77 right now.
