female nosy be layed eggs

hi im new here. I have 2 nosy be chameleons one male and one female. the male has his own area in the corner with sticks and branches and plants our female is in a tanked enclose. we have a hard time finding a good drinking method that works for our female. right now we are trying the drip system. a lot of times I squirt water in her mouth when shes thirsty but I don't ffeel like that's enough. but she is healthy. well we put them together sometimes and he must of mated with her. she just layed 24 eggs on 11-15 and the past few days been finding one or two eggs in her cage in the morning. but she has been really week after having them seems like shes weaker in the morning and perks up in afternoon evening. but she has not ate in about 2 weeks im guessing. and its very hard to get her to drink a lot. so therefore its also hard getting the calcium in her. the other day all her joints were all black like by her elbows and knees and parts of her tail like where her joints are. I feel like this maybe from lack of calcium or could they just be bruised from digging so much???
also is she getting mad or stressed out when I take the eggs out of her cage the ones ive found in there? because I read somewhere that if you take the eggs out she will keep laying them, that they want to see their eggs. is this true? any suggestions on what to do with her to get her healthy again?
and are the eggs she is laying still overnight are they healthy still? or are they bad because they we on the bottom of cage? and advice would be great please!!!!!!! I don't want to lose her after all this

Does she still have access to her lay bin?

What is the bin comprised of?

How wet is it?

Do you watch her a lot, or mess in her cage a lot?

Why aren't you misting her? Squirting water into her mouth is bad, she could aspirate it.

that's a stupid myth, they don't care about the eggs once they are laid and buried.

We cant say if the eggs are good or not. youll have to wait and see if they mold over.

Can you post photos of her please?

It is not uncommon for gravid females to not want to eat when they get close to laying time.

How old is she?

well I do mist her but when I see her opening her mouth moving her tounge around I make water droplets fall into her mouth. when you say mist you mean directly on her?

her normal tank has a small bin of sand in it, when I see her go down into the sand I take her out and out her into this bucket filled with sand which is bigger and allows her more room to dig. because this does not fit into her habitat.

yesterday she was digging so I put her into the sand and she fell asleep and didn't move for along time and was cold so toward the end of the night I took her out and out her into her cage to warm up and for the night. then this morning there was 2 eggs in her cage.

she is normally pink but lately has had a gray color to her and it seems like the bright light has been bothering her she tends to go to the bottom of the cage when its on and only comes out when I turn her red light for at night.

she was kindda interested in a cricket 2 days ago watched it but did not eat it.

yes the sand is wet I used played sand in a 12 gallon bucket, but because its not in her encloser I feel like its kindda cold for her. does that matter? I keep a space heater next to it when she is in there.
and I check on her while she is in there every now and then but make sure she doesn't see me. does she only want to be not watched while digging? or while shes in her cage too?

Ok several things here.

First, you should be misting her cage (NOT HER) several times a day.

Second- NO LIGHTS AT NIGHT. NONE. NEVER.

Next- you need to leave her in the bin, you took her out way too early, that's why shes laying eggs on the floor. females often lay in the middle of the night. and they will always feel cold to the touch, they are cold blooded animals.

You need to get a bigger cage in which her lay bin can go in it, for the future, so this doesn't happen again.

This is why we do not advise outside lay bins unless you have a stubborn female.

SOme females will sleep in their holes at night. a female is done laying when she covers the hole shes laid in and walks away.

When females are laying eggs, they don't want to be seen, by anyone.

If they feel they are being watched, they will abandon the hole, which can lead to egg binding.

but the other day when I had her in the sand she dug a hole way down to the bottom and then buried it up completely and wanted out of the bucket. so that's when I put her bak into her cage. and I shifted through the sand and found he stach of eggs. 24 of them I thought that she was done. then have been finding a few here and there. so does that mean she is not done?
right now I have her in the sand again and she is burrowed down to the bottom do u suggest leaving her in there all night if she hasn't cam out of her hole? can she get too cold? sp it is normal for them to sleep in the sand for along time?
im new to all this. my boyfriend is the one that had lots of them before so I just got really involved with the chameleons just recently.
I will still post a pic but shes in the sand right now and don't want to bother her and answer from you question earlier she is about 1 year old.

Females will often sleep in the holes at night, its typical.

as long as temps arent below 45 in your house, she'll be fine if she sleeps down there.

they need darkness to sleep anyway.

I can see why you thought she was done, but some females feel the need to dig more holes.

you can free range her if you want, but keep in mind they all wander when they want some loving.

is that why they wonder? our male gets down when no one is home and finds places to hang out, lol but ok so no lights at all and keep her in the sand till she comes out again? got it... any tips on easier ways to get her to drink? out male drinks out of a water fountain and she has a drip system but don't ever really see her drink, do you know why her joints were black? and the tip of her nose?

Males might wander to look for girls, or to explore their territory.

females for the same reason, (but for boys).

Misting daily several times a day is what we all use. many of us never see our chams drink, its very normal.

You should never use a water fountain, they breed bacteria.


the black could be from bruising, or dirt, but Id have to see it to make a better guess.

Since there are a few things needing change- please answer the following questions:

For both the male and female:

What do you feed? How often? how many?

What do you supplement with? How often?

What are their basking temps?

What brand of UVB bulb? how old is it?

How often do you mist?

Are the urates white?

that stuff my boyfriend would know. we have uv lights and a basking light, we feed them crickets with vitamens and calcium powder, waxworms and some other kind of worm its green and they get larger after a few day of eating they have what looks like a horn (sry don't know the name) we try to change up the food between those 3 things. he mists her cage serveral times a day. and we clean his fountain pretty much every other day.

we feed them crickets with vitamin powder and calcium powder, waxworms and another kind of worm that is green and gets bigger after a few days of eating, they get huge and have a horn on them but its soft, they love those!
also his mists her cage serveal times a day as well as the dripping water.
they have uv lights that are new and not sure what watage their basking lights are. we clean his fountain at least like every other day to avoid bacteria build up.

That would be a hornworm.

Females should be given less food, less often.
