Hello,
M y chameleon is about one year old, and has never laid eggs. at the moment she is exhibiting strange behaviors such as clawing at the corners of her tank and the bottom of the cage. What concerns me even more is that she has a red/fleshy(hemorroid-looking) mass coming out of where she usually poops/pees. If i do need to form a nesting area, how do i do this? Thanks for any feeback!

I am glad there are some really experienced people here. Sorry for the wrong information.

It sounds like a prolapse issue.
Has the protrusion gone back in?
if not, she may need to go to the vet.
Can you post any pictures?

Yes, it sounds like a prolapse. She NEEDS to get to a vet right away, and as others have said, keep it moist.

Howdy Donna,

While you are waiting to vet visit tomorrow, use K-Y jelly to keep the proplased tissue moist. The prolapse could be caused by egg binding, fecal impaction, parasites, and even a lack of calcium in her diet. The vet can sort out what is going wrong and if necessary, may even put a stitch or two to close the vent and allow things to settle down if it isn't a batch of eggs trying to get out.

What part of the world are you located?
