Feeding the feeders, hermetia illucens

A while back I found an article on another reptile forum about feeding these maggots rather than leaving them in the substrate in which they are supplied. The article suggested using organic bread and baby food. I found this to be difficult as it was always drying out, so I just threw in a mushy banana to see what would happen. Wow are those things voracious! The ate a whole banana in about four days and the are about as big as anacondas!!!
I am going to continue to feed the rather than just let them hang out in a cup. And with them being so big holding a handful is quite creepy!
