Feeding cup question

I have a variation of the sunny D feed cup, and up until now, it's been perfect. Our juvenile jacksons was perching above it and snatching up worms. Today, I noticed he was on a lower branch, next to the cup, attempting to shoot the butter worm through the side, repeatedly. He even tried to bite it through the cup. Even now, he's next to the cup, staring intently at the worm. I purposely used a green sprite bottle, hoping he'd recognize that it was a solid surface. Should I take the cup away, so he doesn't injure himself? Or maybe put screen all around the bottom front edge, so it's not as transparent? I just don't want him to hurt himself.

Why not just make your feeder cups out of nontransparent cups? He could hurt his tongue shooting at the cup.

I purposely put mine in the corners of my enclosures because I had the same issue with one of my chams. Maybe try that? If you wanted to drop the transparent all together you could easily make them out of old 1/2 gallon milk jugs too.

Yeah, I'll take it away and buy some solo non-transparent cups. I just liked the shape and drainage using the bottle, but it's not worth the risk. He was doing so well with it, I'm glad I was home to see him trying to shoot through it, or I never would've known. He even used it as a place to step down from the screen this morning.

Hmm, yes, an opaque milk jug might work well, too. Good ideas Jann and Lauren, thank you.
