Hi, my name is Leslie and I am about to get into the cham world, specializing in Nosy Bes. I have 2 girls, and 1 male, with another male on a waitlist. His name will be Sapphire Rain. Names of others are: Siren's Song, Blueberry Muffin, and Indigo Viking. I plan on trying to breed today, and want to know; how many times a day do you have to feed new born to 1 mo. babies? My company name is: "The Chameleon Vault". The info on this site is absolutely fantastic! Thanks for any replies...

Babies will eat all day long. It is preferable to give them 1/2-1 hour of basking time first, to get their metabolisms up and running. The temp drop at nite will slow their little tummies down. Try not to feed about 2hours before lights out, also. Some claim it to be a myth, while others preach it. Better safe than sorry. Juveniles will eat up to 12 proper sized prey items a day. Either hydei or pinheads. Most hatchlings won't eat until 3-8 (average 5th day) days after hatching. They are still absorbing yolk, and learning about prey from watching brothers and sisters. Remember to keep a few degrees cooler than parents and make sure they have PLENTY of water to drink. They can quickly overheat and/or dehydrate.

Hello Leslie,

do you have experince in breeding? Chameleons sometimes are really finiky trying to get the right set up for your house or place for them to be happy Humidity and temps in different parts of the cage make a difference. In fact most senior members on the site would recommend you wait at least a year before getting into breeding. How long have you had your little ones? I ask these questions becuase you said you are getting into the world of chameleons. I took it as you are brand new to them and wanting to start a breeding project. for all I know you might have already had your chams for over a year =) have a great day!
