My chameleon is an Ambanja X Ambilobe, male , 4 months old
Handling- Havent handled him once yet.
Feeding- 1/4 crickets, 8-12 daily.
Supplements - Rep cal ( calcium with D3)-every other day and herptivite ( multivitamin) twice a month
Watering - I have a habba mist system that sprays every 3 hours for 30 secs, and i hand mist him twice a day.
Fecal Description- usually shaped kinda like a mini football. dark brown / black. white/ moist but now is looking different ( see pic )
The cage is the Zilla screen habitat ( small)
Lighting- Reptisun 5.0, 5.5 ceramin heat dome with a 60 watt bulb.
Humidity- Usually around 50-60. Hits 70-80 after i mist.
Plants- i have fake foilage, with branches that run across my enclosure.
I live in California, and omg is it hot out here right now.

Problem- His fecal matter has been looking different since he shed yesterday. Not sure why. Any ideas? Here's a picture.

Welcome to the forums!

How old it that poop? It dries out pretty fast.

You need to buy some calcium without D3 to use at almost every feeding and only use the D3 twice a month.

How hot is the basking spot? A 60 watt bulb sounds really hot for a 4 month old. You don't need a ceramic light at all unless it get below 65 in your house in the winter and your Reptisun 5.0 is it the coil light or tube?

I would also set up a dripper for him and he needs some live plants.

That poop is about 4 hours old. I mean, ive seen his poop before, even if its
a couple of hours old, it doesnt look like that.
Basking spot- Usually i have his heat dome hanging a little higher, not directly on top of the enclosure but since the mornings here in cali have been cold, i moved it to sit on the enclosure. I just checked his basking spot, it was 87. Usually its in the high 70s or low 80s, so maybe its a bit too hot.
My reptisun 5.0 is a tube not the coil.
Oh, i do have a dripper running throughout the day, sorry didnt mention that.
Live plants is what i need to work on. I ordered one this morning from LLLreptile.

Could your little guy gotten a hold of a cricket close to lights out?

Could be he didn't have time to digest his late night snack completely.

Shedding seems to take a lot of moisture out of them. If you didn't up the misting to compensate (and I doubt many do the first time) then he's probably a tad dehydrated. Mist, mist, mist and keep that drip going. If his poop hasn't returned to normal in a couple of days, then I would be concerned.

You can always start giving a small amount of fatty acids occasionally, that will help. Just make sure you don't give a source of fatty acids that contains too much vitamin E because too much of it can be toxic.

I doubt he got a hold of a cricket before lights out, usually i feed him in the mornings and by lights out, any crickets left over are taken out.
Im going to mist him a little more then usual, see if that helps. And if that doesnt work well, i guess maybe try the fatty acids suggestion? or see a vet.
Hopefully misting will work. I'll keep you guys updated :), thanks for all the suggestions!
