Fecal Exam - Minimum Age/Size?

Does a chameleon have to be a certain age, or be producing poop of a certain size before you can get a fecal exam done?

Just make sure you get a "freshy". ;) Fresher the better, but usually 12 hours or less is the best rule of thumb. :)

Thanks everyone! I didn't get Lily as a baby so lots of things are going to be new to me. I was curious to know if a baby pooped a large enough amount to enable testing.

Tiff,

It sounds like you are about to get another Cham which is awesome. When collecting a sample try to get one that is hot and fresh then place it in the fridge in a sandwich bag until you can get it to the vet! The fresher the better. Good luck!

Tiff; You should get a male this time. Then you don't have to worry about laying bins and eggs and egg bound. Males are really sweet, too. My little Luie's an angel. Don't get one under 3 or 4 months old either. Luie was 7 months when I got him and Camille was 5 months....still little and cute but I didn't have to do all the baby stuff. Jann

Yup! I'm planning on getting another girly cham, but a baby this time around! I am lost without my bug-eyed little green friend. :( It just occured to me that maybe size would be an issue to testing, but now I know, I shall make sure that my newbie gets tested regularly.

I suggest getting a baby. Getting an adult chameleon is like skipping 15 years of a childs life :D They are so much fun when little
