can a cham lose their grip because the branch might be too big? and at what point is too big? because everytime i spray the cage he likes to run around but he would always lose his grip but usually catch with his tail. but it only happens after i spray and the whole branch is dripping wet. here's the branch im talking about. the one he always tends to fall on. could it be early mbd due to not enough uvb exposure???

yes they can lose their grip. I mean they have nails to help them grip but if the branch is super wide and they cannot grip their feet around it they might slip or not be able to climb it well. Do you think your chameleon did not get enough UVB exposure? As far as his limbs and mbd go, they look ok from what I can tell in that picture.

im not sure how much uvb they're supposed to get that's what im worried about. i built my cage and the top has two mesh screens. the inside one sort of hangs a bit loose so that when he's climbing on the top he wont burn himself. is that too much mesh covering the light? if so, can i add another 5.0 bulb to the top?

That branch looks to be on the larger side, proportionally to the cham.

It also looks a bit slick. I have some bamboo in my xanths cage, that she does fine on, until it gets wet, then its slip and slide time. :p

So if its just on that branch, when the branch is wet, Id say its just a slipperyness issue.

I would suggest having only one layering of screen on top though.
