I have read that misting a chameleon directly can cause serious health problems. I have also read that alot of people's chams like to be misted, love showers and enjoy the spray.

What does this mean?

Is it dangerous to mist them directly? ( obviously a gentle mist )

if it is not dangerous then where the heck did that myth come from. Please enlighten me.

Misting directly is fine. They get rained on in the wild.
If the chameleon is very small, it may not be a good idea, as the water droplets can get on their nose, and drown them.

So is that where that notion came from?

What i heard was that spraying water when its about 72degrees will cause bacterial infections of the skin.. Sounded really off but its in alot of books... hmm

if you spray infected nasty water, yea, it might cause problems
but i spray my chams daily with room temp water and none of them have fallen over and died. and no skin infections either,

the only truth in a sense to that is some chams get very mad when sprayed with water, as solid snake said, babies can drown if the water fills their nose, and that chams dont relaly like cold water.
