eyes closed after laying

see my prev thread shes in the laying bin.......Trixxi is sitting under her basking light with her eyes closed,i'm worried because she didn't do this after her last cluch,she has had a drink,but is just sitting with her eyes closed,shall i check the laying bin to see if she has laid?some one please help!

Did she fill in the hole? If she did then I would check.

yep,she did fill it in,thanks for the reply(i'm scared)!,i will check for eggs

I hope she will perk up. If she doesn't I would get her to a vet asap.

Best wishes Ronnie, Keep us posted. Unless you missed the rest, the vet is the best idea. He may give her a shot of oxytocin or arginine vasotocin to bring on the rest.

Just back from vets,he took an x-ray and she still has eggs inside her,he gave her a shot of oxytocin and told me to take her home put her in the laying bin and give her some peace and quite,i also gave her a drop of liquid calcium(as instructed by the vet),eyes still sunk in and at this moment in time shes just sitting in her laying bin,can't believe one of my real fears for her has come true,i just pray to God that she can get though it.(shes out of the laying bin and up on the high branches now)

Lots of quiet, perhaps a light cotton sheet draped over the cage for visual security, and wait! Fingers X'd for you both.

P.S it could be worse Ronnie, trust me on that. Atleast you know there is not likely a physical obstruction since she passed a few already.

Shes only just had it Red, takes a few hrs usually.

Digging and laying expends lots of energy. I might've suggested pre-digging a hole for her, but she will likely ignore it anyway and its best not to disturb her.
Have yourself a wee drop, put your feet up, try not to worry overmuch.
Dont go peeping every 5 minutes

A wee drop(more like a bottle of whisky needed here!)i have loosened up the sand a bit for her,thanks jojackson By the way when the vet looked at the x-ray he said there was no sign of any obstruction(thank God)

I heard they just drop the eggs wherever they are after getting the shot of oxytocin. I would keep her in the bin and not let her climb too high just in case. I always use 2 laying bins, one sand and one soil, every cham I have ever had lay used the soil for the eggs and just pooped in the sand...

I dont think that matters in this case mate, She only has the female, (unless Im mistaken) Eggs will not be fertile anyway.

Good thought though, had she been expecting fertile eggs it'd be a shame to loose a bunch like that, after all the worry.
I think by the time it lays, She will be so drunk, we can convince her to make an omlette! (kidding)

Is she particularly large Ronnie? Strikes me as an idea to see the vet again after she lays for an examination, (to be sure, to be sure ) put your mind at rest that she has passed them all.
