Eye popping at cars

Hello fellow chameleon lovers, im looking for some advice. The sun shines directly into my cham room for a good 5 hours a day and i have set up a spare cage that is fully engulfed in sunshine when i open the 2nd storey window (i know glass blocks uvb). However there is a busy street below about 15 yards away.

Two questions.

1. My cham pops out whichever eye is facing the traffic. Is this stress? He was fired up brighter than i had seen before. His normally purple eyes were bright blue !

2. If this is stress, is it a good tradeoff for all those healthy sunrays?

I appreciate anyones input! Thanks!

If you mean he is inflating his eye and kinda rolling it around, that it usually how they clean their eyes. I think it is most likley coincidence that it is the eye facing the window.
A good misting or shower should help him clean his eyes.
Usually when they are stressed or scared they turn dark and hunch lower on a branch. That is untill they start puffing, hissing and throwing colors.

Maybe it is a quirk for my Cham, but it was definitely situation related. He was doing it with the right eye and then turned around and did it with the other eye, always the one facing the window. It was continuous for 30 min and ceased i/ediately when i returned hum to his normal enclosure. Maybe it was the sunrays themsves, it was bright this morning.

I give him a good warm direct misting every morning and he always get a good eye cleaning in. In fact when i saw him bubbling his eyes at the window I picked up the spray bottle and misted him.. He cleaned his eyes but then when right back to doing the same thing.

I noticed you said busy street some yards away and 2nd floor. My questions are is this a city setting and is it high enough to be more windy than below. If you think about it constant wind will dry out a human eye add car emissions to it and not a very good combo. In the wild im sure there is wind in the trees but there are branches and leaves to absorb some of it. Also depending on the surroundings it may be glare i guess just keep a look and see if glare is a issue. Vitamin A keeps eyes strong maybe do a little reading on the subject and see what you can emerge.

i would be leaning to your thought of the sun in his eyes, he was most likeley trying to keep the eye in the sun hydrated :)
