Eye issue panther chameleon

I have been reading as much as i can possible find on chameleons and eye issues. I have been to the vet she gave me neomycin and polymxin b sulfates and deamethasane opthalmic suspension eye drops. They did nothing.
Started out one eye was shut and chameleon rubbing it. That was a week ago. Then couple days later after the vet. The other eye closed.
He will puff them up and rub them occasionally. I have been doing showers for about 10-15 min a day last few days. got a new reptisun bulb 5.0 tube light, i switched vitamins to repticalcium every day i am not giving him reptivite once a week very small amount end of toothpick amount. I am aware of vit a and chameleons.
My cham still wont open his eyes.
temp in cage is 85 top to bottom 70. i have water drip and spray cage about 3 times a day. i have mister coming today.
He will not eat i am force feeding a/d per vet. He is not really moving. guessing because his eyes are shut. i noticed last night his tail was not curled up like it usually is when he is sleeping.
I need help anyone who has any info?? Not sure what else to try.
first vet cost about $200 for everything.
Vet now recomended me to another vet with more experieince but to see him the visit alone will be $100.

Did they check for parasites? It is absolutely false that chameleons cant live in MN. You can create an environment indoors for a Panther chameleon anywhere. Post your supplement schedule in detail and share what you are gutloading your feeders with and how that is done. Also what are you feeding and how much.

They did not check for parasites. Are we talking internal or external? If they were external i would think i would see those tiny red dots on him.
I was using Repti-cal on mealworms every couple days. Could not figure how to get them on fruitflies.
Since going to the vet and him not eating I am giving him A/D which is a cat dog food. I am putting reptical in this food every day i am not doing reptivite which is once a week for reptivite. This is what i was told by retired vetinarian to do. He is only getting about 0.5 ml food 2 times a day and i try and sneak in a cricket.
Right now he is not eating.
My chameleon will not eat crickets or dubia roaches.
He only eats fruit flies which i do not gutload and meal worms i was giving potatoes, carrots, oatbran, romaine lettuce.
Found out should not feed him meal worms so if we make it thru this i will try something else, silkworms?
I just want to get him through whatever it is.
He wants to be held all the time. I try putting him outside and he just tries to get out of cage.
Cage inside he just hangs out on top screen. Never wants to be put down. Wont get off my hand or walks right back on it.
Before this he wanted nothing to do with me.
Ideas?
I am thinking it was vit A/beta carotine he was not getting enough of and will come around. but not sure how long that takes and anything else i should be doing. i dont want him to go blind.

What supplements specifically were you using and how often for each?
What did you gutloading with?

I have had a LOT of chameleon's and canonly remember three eye issues....one was cancer...one was a sinus infection and one was parasites that had migrated to the eye area. I haven't used prEformed vitamin A for years.

Sorry it was miner-all, which is calcium vit d3 copper zinc etc...
He was maybe getting it once a week very small amount. whatever would stay on a small meal worm.
I am just so confused on all these vitamins.

Based on just that information I would say you have an issue with diet and supplementation. If you are giving only minerall indoor on mealworms and nothing else that would cause the issues you are seeing now. Mealworms alone are not sufficient nutrition and minerall in that dose is too much D3. How old is your chameleon? I stop feeding fruitflies at 3 weeks of age. I would also say its likely his poor health that keeps him from eating crickets or dubia. Not trying to slam you but you should read the caresheet on here or from any reputable breeder for a supplement schedule and how to gutload. I would suggest getting some silkworms and feed those with no supplement for a week until he is hydrated well and see if he perks up. If he is better after that work on gutloading a wide variety of insects and make sure he gets plenty of water and well hydrated feeders. Hope this helps.

I really appreciate the help. He was drinking alot of water before all this happened so i know he wasnt dehydrated until his eyes got bad and he wouldnt open them to get to the water. Right now the A/D he is getting is mixed with water. So no longer dehydrated.
I need to get his eyes better so he can see to eat. So will check out vitamin page and then hopefully as gets better
gutloading insects properly and other insect to feed him and stop the fruitflies. I do really appreciate the help and do not take it as a slam. I am learing.
