Am I the only person who has this issue?

I use the day light bulbs which are about £7 each because they are super hot.

I also use the exo terra reflector done if that helps.
I don't use dimmers or any stats just a timer

yes i used to use exo terra bulbs in the past for other reptiles.i went through alot in a short space of time.
now i just use a household spot bulb.so really cheap.last longer.there just the same without a reptile on the box :)

Cool I'll give that a go! I'm looking for something 75w or higher as the 60w only get to about 70% heat and he needs more than that really.

yeah if you get the correct temp from it.if not then higher the basking branch a little or if its too hot then higher the bulb.failing that you may need to get a lower wattage.halogens do give off more heat than an incandescent bulb tho.how do you cope without a thermostat.i couldnt be without one.im using just a 40w spot bulb and thats on a dimming stat.that gets above 35c without being plugged into a stat.i couldnt be without it and run the risk of burning my boy.
