I just hate it when sb with no knowledge claims sth to be wrong. Every educted guy knows that this is a normal way to kill an animal, it's practiced in labs all over the world every day

I think Maybe Rnara simply finds the idea shocking. Perhaps thought you were being intentionally provocative. He/she may never have heard it put quite this way before, perhaps dosent understand that breaking the neck is a simpler way of saying cervical dislocation, which would be mentioned in his/her link.
Be happy My freind, life is short, no?
:)

Rnara,
Ben's from germany, and though his english is good, its not his first language perhaps. Sometimes its difficult for him to express certain things, for which there is no fitting english translation. Im sure he did not mean to sound cruel or sarcastic (see above).
we struggle with our differences everyday and communication online can further hamper our efforts, as I have come to understand myself. Peace to both of you.
:)

yeah, yeah, you're right...I stop posting normal ways of killing an animal in an euthanasia thread...maybe some guys can kill their animals with a flower power powder

The point of this weblink was in response to people who dont want to just
" break da neck " Who doesn't know that breaking the animals neck is a way of killing an animal. Some people were concern about his in the previous posting. And CO2 was discussed but not in detail. This post is just to help some people who want to kill and animal in a painless way. Some people might not be able to stomach just breaking the neck or might just not know how.

LOL, c'mon Benny, sarcasm dosent suit you mate, your a good guy. Im supposed to be the anti-christ around here, dont steal my thunder! :D

Actually I thought c02 was well covered but...*shrugs*. Im sure people will appreciate the link, thanks for posting it up for us.
Incidently I havent seen you before, welcome! :)

Understood. complex method versus speed/simplicity. But as I said before, many are squeamish and have strong bond with their pet, just cant do it.

Why not ? I mean it's an animal. For small half dead ones I have even a water turtle ;)

As I said before, A reptiles tolerance to hypoxia (lack of oxygen) means that unless you destroy the brain immediatly after, it can remain alive and suffering for up to an hour afterward. (see my link~ my posts)
In this case, Simply destroying the brain instantly would be simpler and more human, and certainly faster.
Chelonians in particular are the most tolerant of hypoxia and therefor the least suitable animal on which to use this method. same for decapitation.
This method is common and reliabley humane for small mammals and is practiced everywhere.
