End stage of MBD..is this it?

Zack and I went back to the pet store yesterday to check on that poor veiled that we tried(to no avail) to help a week or two ago. We found her in the mud again, all of her limbs were so deformed! She was flailing them around trying to walk, but her front leg was bent so bad that it kept getting caught on her lip and pulling her mouth open. It was so bad, it made me cry! She wasn't opening one of her eyes, it could have been damaged from that bent arm poking it for all I know, and she seemed to have no use of her back legs. I'm just wondering if this sounds like the end stages of MBD, so at least I will know that the end of her suffering is near. We begged them to help her, but they acted like we were stupid and said that she was being treated. The worst part is that we found a binder next to the chameleon enclosures that had care sheets on each kind of chameleon. The care sheet for the veiled was right on! Everything down to the no waterfalls and screen cages, even though they have waterfalls and are in glass enclosures. Anyways....she looks so far gone. I was just wanting to know what the last stages of MBD look like. This poor girl is suffering and I can't imagine her living much longer. She can't move anymore, her limbs are too bent and she's too weak for that. I just want her suffering to end. :(

I don't think I would have been able to get out of there without crying either...I'm so sorry she had to have a life like that:( I hope she goes to the big chameleon tree in the sky and her suffering ends soon

Thats terrible. Shouldnt animal services be able to do something? That is clear and obvious animal abuse. I mean if you kept a dog in an undersized kennel and didnt let it out to walk or use bathroom and didnt feed it right wouldnt animal services take the dog from you if they found out?

Lol big chameleon tree in the sky that made laugh. Thats a good one.

I am going

through the same thing right now. Everytime I go into the Pets Supplies Plus by me there are these little Geckos. One is albino but looks dead everytime I go in there. Isn't move much eyes are closed look significantly smaller and malnourished compared the the others in the same enclosure. I even mentioned it to the workers they said they were moving it but never did.

I am sure she does not have much longer. I would call and report them to whoever in your area handles that type of thing. It makes me so sad. :(

My husband is calling the area manager Monday(she doesn't work weekends), and I'm calling the county animal control to see if they can do anything. I also know of a local police officer that is a big animal rights activist in our area. I might get in contact with her too if animal control can't help. I will do something to ensure this doesn't happen again to another chameleon. The fact that they have the correct husbandry info right next to the cage makes it even worse! They obviously know how to care for them and just completely ignore it! I really hope something is done tomorrow. Nothing deserves to go through that kind of pain and suffering.
