My baby veiled (3 wks old) is in a steel mesh enclosure, I spray down his plants 2 to 3 times a day, but the heat lamp/uv seem to dry it out within a few minutes, My breeder said to wrap cling wrap around the 2 sides to try and keep some humidity in but it still dries out real quick, I worry that he's not getting enough to drink as he's so tiny it wouldn't take much to harm him, Please help, I don't know what to do!

First do you have plants in his viv? If not try putting some safe plants inside like pothos or ficus or scheffla we have a plant database here try that .

also try taking out the heat lamp and replace it with a lower WATTAGE house lamp that should bring down the evaporation.

EDIT IMPORTANT
Also when you switch the heat bulb with the house make sure the inside temps are 70-75 that is good for a baby cham

Maybe I have to much heat drying it up, ya I'll switch it up for a lower wattage, thank you very much!

Hydration...

As long as his urates look good you know he is getting enough to drink and maintaining good hydration. The urates on the end of his "poop" should be white, if they look orangish than you may want to do additional mistings and run a dripper periodically.

Don't worry about the cage not "staying moist" it is actually good to allow the enclosure to completely dry out in between mistings and drippings ect.
:p

why don't You run a dripper in the cage? It will help keep the humidity up and you can be sure then that your cham will be offered additional water besides at the mistings. I never see my chameleon drink at mistings, so I have to assume he is drinking from the dripper when I am not looking.

The top of my cage is full of light fixtures, were would I put a dripper, inside? I tried to make a dripper with a yogurt pot with a pin hole in the bottom and hung it up in there, It didn't drip so I made the hole bigger, then it dripped to fast and made a right mess, so I removed it.

I haven't seen any poop yet either, he's so tiny I'll have to hunt for some with a magnifign glass!

Are you measuring your humidity and temperatures?

I don't measure the humidity...I just make sure they drink every day well.

I keep the babies in the low 80's because their small bodies can heat/cool and dehydrate more easily than adults. If you look at the article I cited you will see that I use double fluorescent fixtures with one UVB light and on regular household fluorescent light in each.

... how do I measure humidity?

Go to any hardware store and buy an inexpensive digital guage. You can get one that measures both temp and humidity, and stored the max/min values as well, for under $30. This will help you see not only what the temperature and humidity is when you are there, but also the high and low values while you are away (asleep, at work)

if he is 3 weeks than why not use a platic bin for now, and mist ...that should help the humidity and drinking peoblem..until he get bigger like close to 3 months than try the screen cage...
