Enclosure Work In Progress - Heating Element Question

Watts will make a big difference my old cage had a 60w bulb on and not able to dim it it made temp in the old cage up to 100 I switched it to a 40w and got temps in the 80s. Also the type of bulb, a flood spreads the light/heat out and kinda weakens the father out it spreads where as a spot light focuses the light/heat in one spot it does not really spread out most basking bulbs are spot lights your reg house hold bulb is less focused than a flood and light/heat is focused the least and usually relies on a fixture like a dome to help focus it.

This is my set up in the back corner is the basking spot it stays around 86-84 and warms pretty much the whole cage give me the grading of temps I need the bottom is 68-70 wich is ambient and the side walls and mister allow me to maintain 40-75% humidity pretty easy.

Great looking cage! I do the same thing with my feeder up and flexible vines.
Is that great stuff foam? too lazy to silicone and coco fiber? hahaha!
TY yes I made the side walls out of great stuff and twin wall plastic sheet from Home Depot and attached some neodymium magnets to the back to hold them up I got the idea from Dragon Strand website.

They have some good ideas over at Dragon Strand. I was looking at their breeder cages. I may give Uroplatus Sameiti breeding a go. A healthy pair are not easy to find though. I'm not a mail-order kind of person, So I'm waiting for the reptile super show in July. Hope I can find everything I'm looking for there.

I also keep dart frogs and use great stuff foam for the back grounds, but I cover the foam with 100% silicone, then mash coco fiber on. It comes out looking very naturalistic.

Stopped at Home Depot last night after work, picked up the 120w plant light and dimmer. Was able to hold steady 88° at the basking spot at about 2/3 power.

Tomorrow we commence operation mistking
