so i went out tonight and grabbed some more live plants and potting soil etc. I put all my stuff together to see what people think, let me know any suggestions i DO KNOW i will need more vines and perches. i have two big vines weaving through. My lights and aquazamp (whenever it arrives) will all be hooked up to the digital timer outlet strip i have hooked up and programmed. I don't know if this is too crowded or not so let me know. also, i looked online to see if these plants were good and it said yes, but just let me know if you see anything that should NOT be. thanks a ton! I'm excited to get my chams! Which reminds me i have my girlfriends cage to do next!

Honestly that is a very good set up for the most part. I would recommend getting a taller cage rather than wider in the future, but the live plants are great, it seems like he/she has plenty of foliage and plenty of hiding space. I think I do see a waterfall.. you are going to want to get that out as it is a breeding pool for bacteria and can also be a drowning hazard for the chameleon if lets say it falls into it and you're not around to get him out. If you have a misting set up you may want to create something for drainage on the bottom because that water will collect for you in the bottom and make a nice mess for you to clean up. If you can I would put holes in the bottom and set it on something like a stand with a hole in the middle and set up a bucket underneath for you to collect it and get rid of it every few days or so. Otherwise I really like what you did with it as far as foliage goes it looks great and there are plenty of hiding spots for the little guy or gal. You are gonna want to watch out for how close your heating bulb is to the perch where he is to be basking, it seems pretty close and that can cause some gnarly burns that will require a vets attention. And with that much heat you can actually fry the little one and potentially kill it. But great job! Its nice to see someone ask for help before they buy a chameleon, if that is what you did, either way you're off to a great start.

LOL :D that made my night right there! Thanks man, its nice to see you still active on the forum! But hey private message me tomorrow, I gotta go to bed because I work first shift but we'll catch up then! Night man.

thanks! i didn't think the waterfall would be a problem, but yeah i guess i might just get rid of it! and the basking spot is too close as is i just wanted to get something up and show it! i also think the bulb i have in is just too much as well! it was an actual heat bulb i got in a package deal. A house bulb will probably suffice. My girlfriends cage i plan to get a taller one instead. i HAVE NOT bought any little ones yet because i need another cage and am leaving for a business trip for a couple weeks so it would be a bad idea aha! thanks for the feedback!

Yeah anytime! But I probably wouldn't go even as far as a house bulb for a young chameleon until they are about 6-8 months old you don't need a very hot basking spot. Something like 86-89 degrees for a male of that age(6-8 months) or 80 for a female at the same age. If I am correct, which I'm not sure, please correct me other senior members if I am wrong your going to want a basking spot of about 78-80 for a male Veiled if that is what you are planning on getting from the age of about 3 months to about 6. Then you can up the temp afterwards. But good! I'm glad you have it all thought out! Your chameleon will appreciate it lol :D
