Electrocution

While my veiled loves to free range he also loves to climb up the electrical cords around the house and this really scares me because I'm afraid he will stick his little foot into one of the sockets, has this ever happened to any cham you know of and should I put a stop to his climbing?

You can get childproof plugs for outlets to relieve worry.

Not sure if they would put their feet in far enough, plus I think it's only when you stick metal items into an outlet.

I think you are fine but that is just my opinion. :)

almost ANYTHING can conduct electricity - all he would have to do it complete the circuit - if his toes get into the 2 slots, he may get a zap even if the plug is not all the way pushed in , and he steps on the prongs of the lamp/ect- that can do it too- that is how we "mark" panel boxes - we lay a screwdriver on a lamp plug 1/2 plunged in to find the breakers , it shorts it out, and trip the breaker - that would make me very nervous if he were on my plugs- I am still very new to chams- but have worked in construction over 30 yrs ( I dont recommend this way to mark a box, but sometimes you just can not find the plug in a box, and that is how we find them in older houses-)

Now that's worrying, well done :) I also think it's very unlikely it'll be a problem. On a side note I had a cat that chewed through the christmas lights and jumped across the room  I'm just saying it would be horrible to happen but I doubt he'd die, and lightning doesn't strike very often...........

You could put a guard on the wire that would prevent him from getting too close to the plug. Sort of the same idea people use to keep squirrels from climbing a pole to get at a birdfeeder. Cut a cardboard disk wider than he can reach around, punch a hole in the center and a slit from this hole to the edge of the circle. Slide the disk over the wire right against the plug.

My guys use the AC cords of their lights as jungle vines too.
It doesnt worry me as long as they dont play around on the open outlets.
But I think it would be pretty far fetched for them to get zapped.
Like LL said, it's not that easy.
