Electric Blue Gecko

I went to a local pet store today and saw the CUTEST and tiniest Electric Blue Gecko today and he looked so sad! Healthy but sad. His cage was very boring with no places to hide. They had 75 bucks on him. I was thinking about offering 50 bucks for him. They have had him for 6 months and they don't even know the sex of it. Anyone know of any breeders or had any experience with this breed? I just can't believe how small they are. Smaller than an anole!

sounds like a baby i think they actually get a decent size they are beautiful but i have my eyes on a madagascar giant day gecko. i think it was pretty cool them using one in I am number 4 that movie is sick!!!

I keep this species (Lygodactylus williamsi). They do not get very big (no more than 3" snout-vent). The males are a beautiful blue color as adults and the females are green. My trio have been breeding like crazy (still waiting on the eggs to hatch though). There is quite a bit of information online about keeping them.

Wow i am ahead of you for a change Chris. My williamsi are just breeding right along. I just got the second set of babies with more eggs waiting.

In answer to the original question, Williamsi are fun and easy. My breeding pair and offspring are in a 24x24x24 exoterra terrarium. They eat fruits flys, and a couple gecko foods. I will see if I can find some of my picts and pm them to you.

Laurie,

Well, I've only had them for going on 2.5 months and it took them a couple weeks to start breeding. I have 1.2 in a 36"x18"x24" Exo Terra glass terrarium and they seem to be loving it. I have 4 eggs on the glass at the moment. Its a large enclosure for 3 small geckos but they actually move around it a lot and aren't difficult to find, etc. I've been toying with the idea of adding a couple R. brevicaudatus to the enclosure to see if they can cohabitate but I want to learn more about the L. williamsi first.

Have you kept your hatchlings in with the adults? Have you noticed any aggression by the adults or signs that they might try to eat the babies? How old are your first group of offspring?

Chris

@Laurie - I would love to see some pictures

Do you guys think that asking 75 is a bit steep or is that a reasonable price. I have researched a little bit about them and I think this is gonna be my new obsession!

So you can house adults together? How many eggs does a female lay? Where is the best sites for information on these little guys? :D

I never noticed any aggression while the babies were small, only after they were a couple months old. Mama was who chased them!! I took those 2 out and put them in a separate terrarium. One got out and I have never seen it again. The other I put back in a couple weeks ago when I was sure it was female. I currently have 2 new babies and these are the smallest I have ever seen. Their bodies are not as long as my pinkie nail.

The best site is the gecko forum. They lay 2 eggs each time, and a vet friend on mine has about 15 in one terrarium. I am not ready for that yet. I am sending you a pm with more info.

I know this thread is old but what gecko forum is being referenced? I'll need a larger exoterra for my veiled soon and the old one can't sit empty ya know. :p These guys are soooo cute or maybe I should go for a Jacksons.

I am referring to this forum www.geckosunlimited.com I would be happy to sell you some williamsi but when you add shipping from here they get pricey. Even at $25 or $30 per gecko, the shipping will cost about $45 I would guess. I am sure you couple get a pair locally for less than $100.
