Electra’s egg saga.

Well, that sure was quick. She wastes no time. Thankfully, no prolapse this time. Yay! 🥳 If this is how bearded dragons do, I’m surprised that Australia isn’t totally over run with them. Maybe the cane toads eat them. 😏

Ugh! After she had buried everything and (very cutely) tamped the sand down with her face, I went to tuck her into ‘bed’. Yeah…found her laying on top of an egg and prolapsed again. 🤬 Made her a sugar lubricant paste diaper which she slept in. Dug out 19 eggs from her bin. This morning…still prolapsed & now sticky. During her bath, she popped out egg #20 right in my hand! Prolapsed tissue went right back in where it belongs and I am befuddled. Too many questions and likely few answers, if any. Just hope that her body stops producing eggs soon. It’s sapping everything from her. :( Now I know why she’s so thin and not putting on any mass, no matter how well I feed her.

Whoa... TIL some bearded dragons have roughly four-month reproductive seasons; where they can lay subsequent clutches, spaced roughly 2 to 4 weeks apart, of up to 11 to 30 eggs.... That's a lot of eggs in such a short time, poor girl.

Yikes! Well, we’re three months in so 🤞that this ends soon…or now would be even better. I don’t know if feeding her well to rebuild her strength and body mass will inadvertently tell her body to produce another clutch, but there’s no other option. Poor little ‘momma’.
Spike must be one very sexy dragon to turn on Electra’s reproductive system like this. 🔥😍🥚
Here is the handsome culprit.
