Eggy smell in Viv????

Hi I have an exo terra 15x15x15 glass terrarium, and this is the 1st time I noticed it, an eggy smell inside, what could be the cause for this? It was only 2 days ago when I gave the tank a thorough clean, I mean everything inside and all walls and floor. Thanks guys

do you mean like a rotten egg smell? Could it have been the Chameleons poop? Or a dead cricket? or a combination of both?

Well there's a little poop in there but didn't think that it could cause that smell. I noticed a little bit of water at the bottom so I soaked it up just now! Now gonna hunt for crickets lol!!!

Yeah, my terrarium can start smelling a little funky at times. Not sure if rotten eggs is a smell I have smelled but quite a few other interesting ones for sure....

Chemeleon doo is very nasty!

I'm glad im not the only one lol!! Iv just soaked up all the water, cleared out the 2 dead crickets Iv found, all the poop I found, nd the newspaper I had at the bottom! Hope this clears the smell!!!!!
Wot substrate do you use in you terrarium?? Cheers

Sounds like your Cage could use a good cleaning. If your Chameleons poop smells horribly bad it could be that your chameleon had parasites. Just keep an eye on it, or a nose rather. Keep your tank clean and see if his poop is the cause. Then you will need to take a fresh sample of the poop to a Vet to get a smear and float test done to check, which doesn't cost much. Hope this helps.

if you have live plants and they are not draining well they can start to stink like that. Also stagnant water under the plant pot will smell like that also. When I first got my set up my potted plant was not draining much and I did not know it. When I poked holes in the pot to drain more, man did it stink!

I do not use a substrate. I have my cage set up to where the dripping water falls into a pot below the cage. I try to avoid water at the bottom. The way I see it, if I can smell it- he can probably smell it worse, and I don't wanna tick him off! He bites! Not to mention that is just illness waiting to happen!

Yeah I think it was the water at the bottom of the tank, there's no way 2 poops could smell like that lol, nd Iv only just cleaned the entire tank less than 48 hours ago, so I'm guessing the water! I'm gna spend tonight drying tank completely then dry half hour after every most nd c if that helps! If not I guess it's a trip to the vets with some fresh poop lol

Also Iv now decided to use no substrate, when I get his new bigger cage im gna tile the bottom of it, nd do It at an angle so it drain outta one corner nd into a bucket
