Eggs now and then. What do you think?

Here are the eggs when they were just layed.

Here they are now at 6 monthes.

How do they look?
They have grown quite a bit. They are getting translucent now.

Do you think I'm getting close? What else should I be looking for?

They look fine. The easiest thing to look for is when the egg is sweating, and when it is, it's about a couple of days from hatching. Check up on them maybe once every couple of days just for a peek, it isn't good for the eggs when the containers are opened a lot. Best of luck.

They are at six monthes now. It's fascinating how much they've swelled already.

Nicodemayo, I only hope they have his reds and blues!

They look spot on mate!! quite a few there too!!!

keep an eye out for sweating like the others said they shrink down just before so you will notice them man there is one or two sweating in this pic,my ankaramy from 3 weeks ago

Well so much for a couple of monthes!

One is hatched (today), one is coming out of his shell as we speak, and another shell has collapsed so he should be out tomorrow.

Wow....I hope I have everything figured out.

Gestation ?

Forgive my ignorance but what is the gestation period before eggs hatch ? im presuming its around 6months by this thread ? if that is the case is it the same for my yemen ?

Each species varies in the length of time that the eggs have to incubate for. Some eggs go through a diapause (time when they are not growing) and some don't. In the wild, some may wait for a rainy season to hatch...or for a season where the food supply should be sufficient, etc.

Temperature plays a part. Warmer temperatures generally cause the eggs to hatch sooner...but not always. There is also a range of temperatures needed for each egg to be able to hatch at all...to warm and you "fry" them...too cool and the embryo can't survive.

Generally my veiled eggs take close to 250 days to hatch at about 76-78F. My temperatures fluctuate during the day/night by a couple of degrees and they also fluctuate seasonally due to my "incubator" being open to the environment.
