How long of a process is the egg laying once first egg is layed? How long does it take ?
How many per clutch minimum and maximum?

Assuming you are meaning the first egg laid in the hole she dug...several hours...sometimes they can be finished sooner than that. If your female is dropping the egg(s) without burying them then there is often a problem.

The clutches can vary from about 12 to over 100. It seems to depend on how much you feed the chameleon at the time she is working on her follicle production.

Does follicle production coincide with the receptive colouring? Or does it happen at the end of the receptive stage?

There are follicles in the chameleon that through vitellogenesis (the process of yolk formation through nutrients being deposited in the follicles) move on to ovulate and become eggs which are then laid. Follicles then start to develop again shortly after the egglaying....this is the time that IMHO the overfeeding can push the female to producing a large clutch. I have no real proof of overfeeding at this time pushing the clutch size up (yet) other than my own experience.

It's difficult to get the balance right then! If follicle production occurs after laying, they are eating more again because they are hungry from laying! So you can't really control it? Oh dear - a vicious circle!

You can feed them well for a very few days after they have laid the eggs to give them some time to get back into condition from what I have seen...just not too long. I don't know exactly when the follicles start to change...but I expect its not right away after the laying.
