Egg laying

I think my chameleon may be trying to lay eggs but she doesn't look like there are eggs in her. She's been digging in the dirt I set inside her enclosure when I thought this may be the case. Will femal veiled chameleons ever just dig to dig or is it more likely she is trying to lay eggs?

How old is she? Is she actually digging a hole or just digging around in the bin?
Are you letting her see you when she's digging?

This was here a couple days ago, although she's been greener lately. It seemed like she was digging a hole as it as was more centralized digging rather than just moving dirt. I walked in on her digging then she stopped. She loves to be held so once she saw me she just wanted to come out and didn't dig anymore today.

Make sure she doesn't see you when she's digging. It can make her abandoned hole and if it happens too often it can lead to eggbinding. She looks like she could be gravid. Leave her alone...cover the cage so she can't be disturbed and hope all goes well. Make sure she's getting her calcium dusted on the insects.

I've always been surprised at how well they can sometimes hide them in their bodies! Take special care of her--lots and lots of calcium and water especially. You'll get a good idea of how well she recovered from laying her eggs by her appetite. Feed her a lot for a bit and then cut her back.
