Egg bin???

Can my Senegal lay eggs without mating, or is that just other breeds? She is just about a year old. Not getting fat or anything, but just wondering if I should be prepared just in case??? I can't find ANYTHING on here or on the web about this!!!

If they are eggbearers and not live birth, they can lay whether they are mated or not.

I do not know what they like to lay their eggs in since I have a veild. I am sure someone else will be along to give you more information.

FINALLY another with a Senegal! Only around 5 in the entire forum. Senegals lay eggs, so they will have eggs regardless of being mated. You'll need an egg bin, I assume they have one the same as others such as Veilds. Maybe Karma my male senegal and her could have a get together!

I've had female Senegals off and on for years and they have never laid eggs when not mated. Not all egglaying chameleons produce eggs when not mated.

I was going to buy a W/C Senegal from my local reptile shop but I decided against it. I was told the next week that she had laid 63 eggs, although I did not actually see them. I noticed that she was walking around the bottom before laying and instead of a drab green she was dark and brownish in color. Good luck and if they are fertile let us know because I would love to have a captive bred female Senegal.

If this is true then they may very well retain sperm like the Veiled, and if she is Wild Caught there could be a chance that the eggs could be fertile.

If I breed Karma (a cb) with another cb how much would you offer?

I kept them like veiled chameleons with the basking temperature in the mid 80'sF. They tend not to eat a lot compared to a veiled though. They are "water hounds" and you need to make sure that they are kept well-hydrated.

They've all been WC adults when I got them and they usually lived about 5 years for me.

I'm about 100% sure she is a wild caught, based on her injuries when I got her... She is all better now, happy & thriving (although she only seems to like ME!)

Karma I have read about mating Senegals and it seems it's mighty risky!!! And I just adore her!!

And she really only likes crickets... I have tried meal worms and flies and no dice. She's afraid of the meal worms. Is Karma like that?? I want to give her some variety but she's just picky!
