Today was my baby(panther cham) "Rangers" 2nd time to shed since Ive had him. The first time he shed I left the skin in his cage. Then the next morning he ate it. He shed today, and there is a big piece of skin in the cage. Should I leave it in there for him to eat or do what ever he wants with it? Or should I remove the big peice from the cage?
Is it safe for him to eat?

Stanley ate his the second time he shed. as soon as he scrapped a piece off he shot it with his tongue.. i was told it's harmless for them to eat it so i let him be.. :)

Thanks. That good to know. I just wanted to make sure it would be safe. (I wonder if it has benefits like when dogs eat the stuff after puppies) Eww. But its nature.

When I noticed my chameleon eating his shed skin, I thought maybe it was an instinct so that predators wouldn't know he was around. Does anyone know why they do this?
