Eating from hand

If you want to hand feed your chameleon but he/she doesn’t seem interested or seems scared, give them as much time as they need, my cham just turned 9 months old and it took her all the way until yesterday to eat from my hand!!! Be patient with them with everything, they eventually will ease into stuff, I have taken mine to the pet expo once a month since I got her and she loved it but hand feeding was just too scary for her, so happy it finally worked! This is my first post on here, Just wanted to share this breakthrough and some pics of her haha

Props to you for working hard and being patient. Seems like your hard work paid off! And welcome to the forums! We hope you stick around, can't wait to see more pictures of your beautiful cham.

In regards to this section:

You shouldn't be taking your chameleon to reptile expos or on trips anywhere at all. These situations are incredibly stressful for chams. It took her 9 months to trust you--which is really good work on your part--but it doesn't mean that she trusts other people or finds trips to be exciting. Reptile expos are crowded and full of fast-moving "potential threats" in the eyes of a chameleon. Even a car ride is a lot of information for a cham to take in. In the wild, their predators swoop in from every angle--hence their periscopic eyes that swivel around super fast in new situations.

All things aside, your chameleon looks beautiful and in good shape. I hope you reconsider taking her on future trips. Look forward to future updates on her!

+1. Is it me, or does handling before hand-feeding seem "backwards?"
I've been under the impression that hand-feeding is one of the steps/building blocks toward handling.
Well I'm not sure about other people but my definition of handling right now is using one hand to slowly guide him onto the other, he sits there for about 3 seconds for pictures atleast then wants off. So he doesnt really "like" handling but I can do it😂 he doeant eat from my hands yet though.

I was able to handle her the second week I had her at 1 month old, she just enjoys climbing from hand to hand, or just climbing up my arm, or even just sitting snd not moving, in my case I guess handling was a building block to hand feeding
