"eating air"

After my baby ate a fly today he started to "cheew air", first I thought "omg he's shocking", then he stopped after a 5 secondes of cheewing. Never seen him do this before, and it's not the first fly he eats...

Do you got any idea of what that was?

Mine does that when he's trying to swallow a bigger cricket (looks like gulping air, not choking). Their just working it down.

Even though I keep the never-feed-anything-larger-then-the-width-of-the-eyes rule, sometimes they snag more then one and get a really big mouthfull.

It takes them a while to chew them up and swallow.
I dont leave them alone when that happens, I watch and wait even a few minutes after it looks like they got it all down.

I have had to pull stuff out of both ends with plastic forceps on my leopard geckos.
One had eaten some sphagnum moss, passed some of it in his poop, but had
a trail of moss hanging out of his vent.
I had to very slowly pull it out and was surprised how long it was.

I have also had reach down their throats to pull out stuff they were choking on.
Either procedure is much fun!
