early coloring up CH

I couldn't get pix of everyone tonight, since a couple houseflies were left inside, trying to escape the cage. These two were closest, and showing some surprising color for their ages. Check out the pale sky blue on their heads, and the yellow coming out in the green stripes...

This is the biggest one, from female #3's clutch:

This is its full sibling, also from #3 clutch. This little one was pooped on, note the neck area, and I have not been able to remove it without stressing the little beast. The red dot on the head is a piece of peeled-off acrylic ID paint. It looks like his tail tip is bruised, I'll have to examine closer tomorrow morning. But, aside from all that, check out the same blue and yellow coming up!

Fortunately for the sake of contrast, they are perched on bright green branches that show off these roosting colors.

Other keepers with CH, are yours coloring up, too? I'd love to see pix of brighter displays of these early colors. These are different from my CBs' roosting colors at this age; they were more in the lavender/mauve range with electric greens.

Thanks, Jann and Vibrant! They are very cute, indeed. It's difficult to get work done with them being so thoroughly watchable.

mine looks just like that at roost, little less pale and more dots. greens and blues are present. Still no sign of a good shed :(

and whats the deal with the corner of the mouth always being cracked open?

It's not really cracked open, it's just the black mucosa/inner lip showing. Eventually, they grow rough skin texture, and the corner lip line becomes obscured. The mucosa pales with age, too.

I've been unable to find pictures of this, but CB Rincewind was greener during the day at one month old than he is now at 10 months.
Still trying to find a picture to back this up...:)

This one is my fave now because it allows me to take its pic.

Check out the popping yellows on its face! They are electric in person, but my monitor washes the colors down.
