Dusting question

Do you dust your silkworms or just let your cham eat them without any supplementation? I dust the crickets with calcium, but am not sure completely if I should do the same with the silkworms.

Silkworms are very high in calcium as are Phoenix worms. They don't need dusting but I dust everything else.:)

How many do Juvie Veiled eat? Mine has an amazing appetite, but the silkworms I received look a bit large for him. He chews his food well before swallowing. I am going to try handfeeding him the silkworms tomorrow morning, but am not sure on the amount. He eats roughly five medium to large crickets with roughly six to nine too small to fill him up crickets. He is 3.5 months.

My adult will normaly one or two silkies at a time i then go on to crickets. If they are too large why dont you let them cocoon and breed them!:)

Do they cocoon first and then breed? Sorry, I am new at this :) I will research silkworms! :D Thank you for your response!

Yes. Check out blogs by pigglett79. They grow huge, cocoon then mate as moths. Be careful how many eggs you try to hatch or you may have way too many and they are a lot of work.:):)

The general rule for feeders is that they should be no wider (from side to side, not head to butt) than the space between the chameleon's eyes. With soft worms like silkies and horns, they can be a little bigger because they squish when they are eaten, but use a little common sense to make sure they aren't too big.

How old is your veiled and is it a male?
