Dubia's in Florida

Sooooo.... not that I would ever dream of ordering Dubia to ship to FL, But my ummmm "friend" ordered some a couple of months ago and "his" chameleon just started taking a liking to them recently (and has lost all interest in crickets). My "friend" can't remember where he ordered them from, though. If I... er, um... my "friend", hypothetically speaking, were wanting to order more, does anyone know of any supplieres that will ship to FL?

Your friend and the shipper could get into quite a bit of trouble.

There is nothing magical about dubia. Get discoids- they are about the same thing, nymphs look the same only more active (so more attractive to your cham) and are just as easy to breed AND legal in Florida.

Man- all these floridians looking for dubia- if I lived down there I'd be growing discoids like crazy and selling them like mad to you guys here on the forums. Money making opportunity for someone down there...

Are discoids able to climb smooth surfaces? My guy is cup fed because his enclosure is easy for bugs to escape. That was a huge sell point for Dubia is that they can't escape the cup

The only difference between them pretty much are that discoids get bigger than dubia. I would be very careful about ordering dubia in FL.

They cannot climb smooth surfaces.

Discoids will not be able to escpae if the dubias couldn't. Discoids are just as easy to keep and breed too :)

Ordering dubias would be a really lame way to get into a lot of trouble, play it safe :)

That's great to know, I'll give the discoids a try...now, any thoughts on where to get those? Lol. I just tried LLL, coastal silkworms, and Mulberry farms and none of them had them stock

thanks! His terms say "There are no Florida sales for insects currently." I emailed him to see if that includes natives like discoids.

I am having the same issue as you, living here in Florida. I would like to get some variety with his feeder insects, and these crickets do not shut up EVER...

So discoids are the only alternative for us then huh?
Does anybody know of an online seller for discoids that ships to Florida?

It's really been a pain in the neck, I have found plenty of places that ship discoids to FL, but they are all out of stock. It's pretty frustrating. I'm definitely starting a colony as soon as I can get some
