Dubia roaches

i want to get some dubia roaches,but i was wondering how many i should get to start out .Also if any one knows of some good sites that have them and caresheets for them would be great

Well, I don't breed them so I don't know the care of them but I know some people on the Forum will sell some from time to time. You sould get enough to start a colony then you can start using them as feeders.

Usually 100 to start a colony is a pretty good number.

Yeah about a 100. It took me about 100 and a couple of months to start seeing babies.

OMG disguisting! I don't think I could ever feed a roach to my chameleon... I gag when I see roaches in real life.. omg lol I hope this isnt something that benefits them too much b/c my Sobe will never get fed roaches... Ew omg

That's unfortunate.
The meat to shell ratio on a roach is fantastic.
I would say roaches are in the top two or three best feeders (if not # 1)

I def. second that. I have fat, healthy, and happy chameleons and softer shelled roaches are their staple. They are easy to gutload, live longer, and you can feed less of them to your cham and fill their belly all the same.

I agree that 100 is a good start. Try to get a ratio of 4 females to 1 male. I started with about 100 adults and 150-250 nymphs 2 monthes ago. I didn't starrt feeding them off until last week and I'm not feeding heavily as I still use crickets and hornworms until the colony is REALLY established.

If you start with 100 don't plan on feeding them off for at least 3-4 monthes.
