Drinking fountan

People are probably going to think I'm crazy, but I keep a couple of these around my free range setups. Atticus, my Oustalet's love's drinking from them and so does Blix, one of my Melleri. Here's the deal though before people start blasting me, I'm a clean freak. I take them down everyday and wash them. I know that may sound far fetched, but I work from home so I have the luxury of time with my chams. Neither one of the chameleons listed had to warm up to the cantina either, they immediately went for it and loved it.....I was honestly surprised. I will say, if my situation ever changes and I know that I won't have the time to maintain the two fountains, they would have to come down. Bacteria is bad news for chameleons and I wouldn't want to risk it.

Well they do have a filtration feature so maybe if not left for long periods like you said they would work. How long have you used them?

These work great if you keep up on keeping them clean. The motors on them do not last long though. They are great when you need to be away from home for a day or two!

I have had mine up for over a year. The filter is simply a piece of foam that is used to filter out debris. I actually took it out completely because foam padding is the best place for bacteria to create a colony!

I don't know if it is the same, but in the fish, and human world you have good and bad bacteria. In fact if there wasn't an efficient amount of good bacteria in a filter system of an aquarium the fish would die of ammonia poisoning. I wondering if it's the same case here?
