Drainage system Idea

Heres an idea I have that might be of some help to you guys. I found a square funneled oil drain pan 23x22 which would work nicely on a reptibreeze. I currently have a ventilated garage shelf and egg crate with mesh screen at bottom of cage and a tote to catch the water on the shelf, what Im going to do is cut a square piece off the shelf to fit the funnel in nice and snug, use aquarium silicon to seal the edges to the shelf. Then Ill just place my reptibreeze on top of it, and keep my mesh screen and eggcrate in the cage. So when it drips the water goes into the funnel and out the bottom into a tote. Instead of just dripping on and thru the shelf. Heres what I currently have (photo attached) without the oil funnel. Since the shelf came with 4 shelves, I actually have a spare shelf that I can use to cut. Pretty cheap funnel as well. $15 on ebay or $11.39 on amazon, both are free shipping. What ya think?

I used a small jig saw. Cut it to the same size as the pvc bottom piece that comes with the reptibreeze.
