Dorsal Spines worn down

Nitro will be three years old in November. I've noticed that most of his Dorsal Spines have become worn down. I don't really notice that on others Chams though. How did this happen? He's very healthy looking.

In most cases it is from being burned. This causes the dorsal spikes to have a worn down appearance.

Thanks for the info. Winter 2012 I had a hard time keeping his basking temps stable. It's possible his spines got burned then. :-(

Here he is yesterday enjoying the nice weather. Other than the missing his spines, he looks healthy as a horse to me. Still as sweet as can be too.

Omar will also not have as many dorsal spines as he burned himself rather severely several weeks ago. It has taken forever to heal. I am still putting topical antibiotics on his wounds twice a day.

Sorry to hear about Omar. How did Omar burn himself? I hope his healing progresses.
